Two years after the end of the civil war in Cote d'Ivoire, dissensions between the supporters of former president Laurent Gbagbo and the opposition. The opposition has been capturing supporters of Gbagbo, and they have been found to be torturing and killing them. They've even gone as far as attacking a camp that was housing displaced citizens, totally uninvolved with the conflicts. The growing violence has shown the government's inability to control the conflicts between the supporters of Gbagbo and the Ivorian soldiers and allied militias.
To hear of all of this warfare in an already impoverished nation is disheartening. Countless lives are being lost every day in these conflicts that haven't been able to be solved. Innocent civilians are being brought into the conflict, without having anything to do with them. They are rendered defenseless against the attacks, because of the fact that the Ivorian military is already preoccupied with fighting the strong supporters of Gbagbo. Without the defense of the military and the inability to control the conflicts, innocent citizens are made into sitting ducks.
The political stability in Cote d'Ivoire, or the Ivory Coast, is very slim to none. Conflicts between the supporters of former president Gbagbo and the Ivorian military opposition have been devastating to the country as a whole. This violence that has been occurring is causing the nation that has yet to recover from a recent civil war from making any sort of recovery. The government is unable to stop the violence and continues to fight the supporters of Gbagbo, although the violence is ultimately furthering the destruction of the nation.
